We Don't Mind How Small It Is ......
Klargester Service

Of course, once I.H.S. Systems has installed a new unit it must be serviced to keep it in top working order.

This picture shows our number one service engineer getting down to the job. For the domestic customer this is simply a once-a-year visit.

A tanker is also used to empty the sludge which has accumulated in the bottom compartment of the sewage plant over the past twelve months. By this time the solid matter has been converted into compost by the 'friendly' bacteria.

........ Or How Large !!
Big Machines

Sometimes the tools we use need to be a little bit bigger !

This long reach excavator was used by I.H.S. Systems to refurbish three sewage filter beds at a large sewage works. The clinker on which the 'friendly' bacteria live had been broken down into dust by the action of the weather over 20 years, so it had to be removed and replaced with blast furnace slag - good for another twenty years.

Over 400 Tonnes of Clinker were Removed From This Bed

The work on each filter bed was completed within a fortnight.

The biggest problem with this contract was delivery of new blast furnace slag to refill the filter beds. The lorries were only six inches shorter than the turning space on the site.

The old power station clinker was reused for infilling disused drying beds on the site. This picture shows the newly refurbished filter bed just before the sewage line was reconnected.
